Ooops! The last couple of weeks of the school holidays have zoomed past and we have done loads and not much at all at the same time!
which is the only thing to do according to this bloke (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C89osd7Eic) – sorry for some reason my blog is not letting me do clever hidden linky things today!
We also learned the words to the Australian National Anthem thanks to this fabulous video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVezMI5S4Hg ) – footie, mullets and Olivia Newton John, what could be more Aussie?
Then just a few days later we went to Jeni and Dave’s house for a Burns Night …complete with cunningly sourced Edinburgh Rock, Irn Bru and Haggis!! Our concession to our new homeland was that the haggis was cooked on the BBQ and we all sat outside for the evening!
Now we are in full ‘back to school’ mode which in Australia apparently means you fork over a month’s wages to the school and in return they give you three jotters and a packet of felt-tip pens. They start at their new school tomorrow so this evening we are totally organised (for probably the one and only time of the year!) They are both ever so slightly nervous but looking forward to meeting new people – which is kind of the state all four of us have been in for the last seven months so they are quite comfortable with it!!
I will post back tomorrow with pics of them in their new school uniforms (probably the last chance before A loses the shirt off his back and R covers herself head to toe in paint and PVA glue!)
