The Great Wall of Melton

Over the last couple of months we have been doing a bit of remodelling around the house.

We used to have a big ‘L’ shaped room which we didn’t really use very effectively.  It was a nice big space but kind of wasted and we mostly just filled it up with crap! So, we decided to put up a wall.  And when we say that, I do of course mean that we did the deciding and then someone altogether more handy put the wall up!

Hughie and his friend, Sammy, came round, measured up, went to get the materials and got to work!  Just like that we had the beginnings of a wall!

And then with the help of another friend of Hughie’s the plaster went on and it looked like this…

In fact, it looked like that for a looooong time because we never seemed to have any time to paint!

Now, deciding on paint colours is a major trauma in our house.  Michael is Mr Neutral.  He would paint the whole house magnolia and have beige furniture for fear that it would look a bit ‘out there’!  I am not afraid of ‘out there’ and I LOVE bold colours.  I think neutral houses are very pretty and stylish but I can’t imagine living in a house without colour.  So my idea was to have a dark green on one side of the new wall and then a lighter shade of the same green on the other and the same cream that we have in the living room on all the other walls.  Michael was unsure but let me go for it 🙂

And the new room on the other side of the wall is now a lovely guest room all ready for anyone who might pop by 😉

I LOVE the changes that we have made and I’m so pleased we did it.  It’s a much better use of space and now instead of a general dumping ground we have a dining room, a sitting room and a guest room!

    How exciting!
I don’t think some of your images are showing though (the last image I can see is the guy on the floor with the wall “frame”?)

  2. Thanks, I don’t know why that was, but they should all be showing now!
